Terry Johnson


Terry is a retired Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper/Detective. During his 35 year law enforcement career and conducted over 3,000 criminal investigations.  He held assignments in the Highway Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division.

As a Trooper, he was assigned to enforce the State of Arizona traffic and criminal statutes, conduct collision and criminal investigations involving intoxicated drivers, auto theft, vehicle homicides and narcotic violations. He was also cross designated as a Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Officer.

After being assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division, Terry held assignments in the following:

  • Narcotics Division - Air Smuggling Unit - Conducted investigations involving narcotics smuggling by air craft. 

  • The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force - Investigated an international drug smuggling organization/conspiracy. Coordinated four nationwide enforcement operations. 

  • State and Local Drug Task Force - Enforced state and federal narcotic laws. Developed and supervised a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Enforcement Operation. 

  • Southern Arizona Critical Incident Team. 

  • The General Investigation Unit and 

  • The Special Investigation Unit  

During his career, Terry was assigned to investigate officer involved critical incidents involving serious physical injuries or death; officer involved shootings; motor vehicle collisions; administrative investigations; and internal affairs investigations. He has also assisted law enforcement agencies in establishing critical incident teams and provided training to new investigators. 

He was also assigned to investigate, photograph and reconstruct crime scenes. Additionally, he attended and photographed more than 100 postmortem examinations. 

He investigated various crimes, which included homicides, narcotics, public corruption, theft, conspiracy, trafficking in stolen property, money laundering, forgery, bribery, racketeering, fraudulent schemes and artifices, fraudulent schemes and practices, illegally conducting a criminal enterprise, computer fraud, conspiracies, and money laundering. 

Additional assignments also included assisting numerous Arizona law enforcement agencies with criminal, administrative and internal affairs investigations.


Terry has the tenacity of an old bull dog and he is dedicated to providing the highest quality work product possible. While being an influential problem solver, he displays the uppermost levels of personal and professional integrity. 

He is a licensed private investigator in the State of Arizona, license number 1699620.

Specialized Training

Terry has received more than 2,000 hours of specialized training in interviewing defendant/witnesses, basic forensic interviewing, Reid interviewing techniques, death investigations, intelligence analysis, firearms as forensic evidence, police involved shootings, crime scene management, vehicle homicide prosecution, post blast and explosives investigations, blood spatter interpretation, basic and advanced crime scene photography and many more training topics. Training records will be made available upon request for trial purposes only.
